Add comments to a Squarespace site

Squarespace can add the same code under every blog post. Paste the Disfora container and script there once, and every post, old and new, gets its own comment thread.

Before you start

  • A Disfora project for your site. Create a free account, start a project and enter your domain. You'll verify it once the code is live.
  • A Squarespace plan with code injection: Core, Plus or Advanced, or the legacy Business or Commerce plans.

1. Add comments under every post

In the Pages panel, open your blog page's settings (the gear icon next to it) and go to Advanced. Paste this into Post Blog Item Code Injection and save:

Post Blog Item Code Injection
<div data-disfora-comments></div>
<script src="https://disfora.com/public/disfora.js" async></script>

On Squarespace 7.1 the code appears below each post's content. On 7.0 it depends on the template: some show it above the post, and templates with a grid or list blog page show it on the blog page instead of on each post.

If you have more than one blog page, repeat this for each.

2. Turn off Squarespace comments

If the blog uses Squarespace's own comments, turn them off in the blog's settings so readers don't see two comment sections.

3. Verify your domain

Use the meta tag method: open the site-wide Code Injection panel and paste the tag from your Disfora dashboard into Header. Then click Verify in Disfora and open a post on your site. See verifying your domain for the other methods.
