Show the widget in your language

Disfora's comments, ratings, polls and forms show their buttons, labels and messages in your page's language. Most sites don't need to change anything: the widget reads the language your page already declares.

Supported languages

Language Code
English en, the default
Spanish es

A page in any other language shows the widget in English for now. Ask for your language and we'll work on adding it.

Set the language

The widget uses the language in your page's <html> tag. A page that starts with

<html lang="es">

shows the widget in Spanish. Regional codes work too: es-ES, es-MX and es-419 all mean Spanish. WordPress fills in this tag from Settings → General → Site Language, so a Spanish WordPress site shows Disfora in Spanish with no change.

To pick the language yourself, whatever your page's tag says, add data-lang to the script tag:

<script src="https://disfora.com/public/disfora.js" async data-lang="es"></script>

data-lang="en" keeps the widget in English on a page whose <html> tag says otherwise.

On a site in several languages, each page gets the language its own tag declares. The widget reads it when your site loads, so if your site switches language without a full page load, the widget follows from the next full load.

What's translated

  • Every button, label, placeholder and message in comments, replies, ratings, polls and forms, and the sign-in button and its menu.
  • Error messages readers see, such as a reminder to wait before commenting again.
  • Times, dates and numbers: hace 3 horas instead of 3 hours ago, and a 4,5 star average instead of 4.5.

These stay as they are:

  • Anything you write yourself: poll questions and options, form fields, confirmation messages and the messages your automations show. Write them in your site's language.
  • Readers' comments.
  • The text of notifications, the emails Disfora sends, and the dashboard. These are in English.

Ask for your language

Your language isn't listed? Tell us which one you need in the thread at the bottom of this page, or contact us, and we'll work on adding it. Once a language is added, every site whose pages declare it gets it, with no change on their side.
